Perfect Picks for You… or Someone Special

One of our favorite traditions is Kim’s annual LIVE show, where she presents thoughtful discussions and generous giveaways featuring her favorite finds of the year. Throughout her travels and collaborations with fellow sewists, she uncovers standout items—the true must-haves worth spotlighting. Be sure to watch the LIVE for the complete list, but here are a few highlights.

Presser Bar: Makes it easy to press seams open—even those tricky seams that are hard to reach with a standard iron.
Binding Eaze:  Holds your iron in place while you pull your binding through, making it simple to press seams perfectly. It also protects your ironing board and surfaces while your iron stays put.

Next Level Quilter Ideas: For Quilters Ready to Up Their Game

I’m ready to take my quilting journey to the next level! I’ve finished several PMQs and other projects, seeing them through from start to finish—and lately, I’ve been honing my binding skills. When I first started quilting, I gathered all the basics: a seam ripper, snips, a small iron, a couple of cutting mats, wool ironing mats in two sizes, a rotary cutter, and rulers. These are the essentials for anyone learning to quilt and sew.

Now that quilting has truly stuck as my favorite hobby, I’m excited to explore new tools that make the process even easier—and I’ve spotted a few must-haves that will really help me level up.

So, here’s my Next Level List:

Fabric Pens: I’ve recently started doing more of my own cutting for new projects, and pencils just don’t cut it anymore. Fabric pens are a game-changer—some erase with heat, some disappear over time, and others wash away with water. Perfect for making precise markings without worrying about permanent mistakes.

Titanium Rotary Blades: My standard rotary cutters just don’t hold up for long, and I get frustrated far too quickly. Titanium blades are worth every penny—they stay sharp much longer, meaning fewer changes and fewer accidents. (Yes, I’ve cut myself before…don’t ask!)

Blade Saver Thread Cutter: Want to extend the life of your well-used blades? Transform your dull rotary blades into this clever little flower-shaped thread cutter. With proper caution, it becomes a functional tool for cutting chain-pieced sections apart. A cute and practical way to repurpose items you’d otherwise toss.

Needle Threader: My sewing machine has a built-in threader…that I cannot figure out. I use a magnifying glass and sigh  heavily every time I have to re-thread. I’m on the hunt for a simple, efficient needle threader to make this task effortless.

Thread Vacuum: I adore my tiny iron—so why wouldn’t I love a tiny dust buster too? Right now, I rely on a lint roller to clean up all those tiny threads. A thread vacuum would be a fantastic upgrade to keep my sewing area tidy with minimal effort.

For the Quilter Who Already Has Everything: Special Picks for the One Who Has It All

Replacements and Upgrades: We all know that we need to regularly buy thread, fabric, needles, rotary blades. But did you know that your other notions and tools need to be replaced? Such as your seam rippers, cutting mats, rulers and templates. If you can no longer read the measurements on your ruler because of extended use and those markings have rubbed off, you need a new one! Don’t make life harder when you are measuring and cutting.

Subscriptions Boxes and Countdown Boxes: These are awesome gifts! It might be too late to get in on the countdown boxes, but make yourself a note to set up that gift for your favorite quilter next year. But subscription boxes from your favorite quilt stores are perfect for the quilter in your life. (Yes, please look at the Cotton Cuts Platinum subscription boxes or gift a PMQ. What a great gift for a beginner or expert sewer.)

Whether you’re shopping for yourself or someone special, the best quilty gifts are the ones that inspire creativity, simplify the process, and make time at the sewing table even more enjoyable. From quirky notions and inspiring books to next-level tools and thoughtful subscriptions, each of these picks is meant to add a little spark to every stitch. However you choose to give (or upgrade!), these perfect picks are sure to bring excitement, fresh ideas, and plenty of happy quilting moments all year long.
