What is Mystery Five-0?
Mystery Five‑0 is a fully integrated quilt‑mystery experience that blends seasonal storytelling with creative quilting fun. Over the course of a year, participants work through three quarterly mysteries, each delivered in weekly "clues"—plus they unlock a special bonus pattern when they complete all 3 of them.
At the heart of each mystery is Lara Langston, a fictional FBI special agent who unfolds her latest case stitch by stitch—quilters piece their own quilt while discovering a chapter of Lara’s adventure with each.
Our first mystery began with Aloha and continues with Island Hopping! Quilters will sew a 68x86 quilt top in just 5 weeks.
Who participates in M50?
Mystery Five-0 mystery quilts are fun for anyone, especially:
1. Quilters who love a good mystery.
2. Quilters who love shorter projects. (You will have a finished quilt top in just 5 weeks.)
3. Quilters who want to sew but don't want to cut small pieces. (Our PRE-CUT kits give you more time to just sit and sew!)
4. Quilters who want the challenge of shopping their stash, pairing their fabric and cutting their own pieces.
How can I participate?
Quilters can join two ways:
Purchase one of our PRE-CUT kits and participate for FREE
OR
Shop your stash and pay $50 to participate. You will also receive a "welcome kit" and a $25 gift certificate to our shop.
Our PRE-CUT kits include perfectly die-cut parts and pieces that will give you more time to sit and sew.
For Luau, PRE-CUT kits will go on sale February 6th at 10am CST. Quilters who sign up to get early access will receive a secret link via email that can be used beginning at 7am CST on February 6th.
All kits will be available to the public at 10am CST.
If you would like to shop your stash, this option will also be available February 6th. You will receive a "Before You Begin Guide" on March 1st to help guide you.
When do PRE-CUT kits ship?
Our PRE-CUT Kits will ship no later than February 15th.
When will the first clue drop?
This mystery quilt consists of 4 clues and 1 BIG Reveal.
Clue 1 drops MArch 4th at 9am CST and will arrive via email AND be available in our CCPD evidence locker for digital download. The remaining clues will drop the following Wednesdays at 9am CDT.
We will be hosting a LIVE Big Reveal on April 1st.
How can I participate and shop my stash?
You are welcome to still participate in M50 and shop your stash. The cost to participate and shop your stash is $50. Quilters will receive a "welcome kit" in the mail and a $25 gift certificate to our shop. Please allow 24 hours for the gift certificate to arrive.
What's included in the PRE-CUT kits?
Along with pre-cut pieces, you will receive binding and borders for your quilt top.
We will also include a few extra "oops" pieces.
And in true Cotton Cuts fashion, you can always count on some surprises.
WIDE BACK backing kits that include pillowcase kits will be available at an additional cost.
