Celebrating the Floral States of America: A Cotton Cuts Exclusive

At Cotton Cuts, we love creating quilting experiences that bring our community together, and the Floral States of America project was no exception. This unique and vibrant journey combined our love for fabric with the beauty of the United States, one state at a time. Over several months, we sent out five specially designed floral fabrics each month, each representing a different U.S. state. These prints were carefully curated to reflect each state’s signature blooms, from the bold Texas bluebonnet to the delicate California poppy, allowing quilters to stitch a little piece of Americana into their projects.

What made this project truly special was the way it allowed participants to explore a wide variety of colors, patterns, and regional charm — all without needing to leave their sewing room. Each fabric drop was a surprise and a delight, sparking creativity and anticipation with every month’s bundle. Whether you were collecting them for a specific project or simply to admire the artistry, the Floral States of America brought a fresh and thoughtful twist to monthly fabric deliveries.

We were also thrilled to have two incredible Cotton Cuts ambassadors join us on this journey. These talented makers sewed along each month, offering helpful tutorials and expert guidance to participants. Their creativity and enthusiasm made the project even more interactive and fun for the entire community. Even better, we offered not one, but two ways to complete the project. Quilters could choose between two different layout options to finish their quilts, making each one truly personal. Some preferred a clean, structured look, while others opted for a more whimsical, patchwork-inspired layout. Both finishing options were designed to highlight the unique floral prints while giving quilters flexibility to express their individual style.

The final results have been nothing short of stunning. We’ve been thrilled to see the finished quilts, the in-progress photos, and the incredible creativity this project inspired. It’s always a joy for us to watch our quilting community connect over shared experiences, and Floral States of America has definitely been one of our favorite projects to date.

We cannot close out our Floral States project without highlighing the amazing work of Micaela Jones. You just have to view the pictures for yourself. Micaela added to her quilt by embroidering the names of each state to her blocks. What a phenomenal result!
