Cotton Cuts Founder Kim Moos sews Clue One of our Mystery with a Mission

Every great idea starts somewhere, and for Kim Moos, it started in her basement. What began as a small passion project of coordinating sewing fabrics into a subscription box for quilters, has grown into Cotton Cuts, a thriving global small business that brings creativity, community, and inspiration to quilters everywhere. Through dedication, innovation, and a deep love of fabric, Kim has built a company that connects thousands of makers through thoughtfully designed quilting experiences.

Recently, Kim’s entrepreneurial spirit was recognized when she was named a Top Women Business Owner in St. Louis—a well-deserved honor for someone who has turned her passion into a vibrant business that supports and inspires the quilting community.

At Cotton Cuts, Kim is the mastermind behind many of the programs quilters have come to love. She develops and designs patterns for the Puzzle Mystery Quilt and the Mystery 50 program, carefully planning each design so that Cotton Cuts can pre-cut the pieces and make the sewing experience smooth and enjoyable for participants. Her creative vision has also shaped beloved past programs, including the Floral States of America project and the Tim Holtz Painter’s Palette program, each designed to bring creativity and discovery to quilters month after month.

Now Kim is stepping up to the sewing machine once again as the first participant in our Mystery with a Mission charity quilt. This special project brings together ten quilters who will each sew part of the mystery quilt before it is completed and shared with the community. The finished quilt will help support an important cause, Social Justice Sewing Academy, and raffle tickets are available for those who would like a chance to own this meaningful creation.
